Mobility Aide Vision Statement
Mobility Aide will provide mobility DMEs* (durable medical equipment) in a rehabilitation setting for patients who have an immediate and/or permanent need, but cannot afford what has been recommended by healthcare professionals.
*DME is defined by Medicare as “any equipment that can withstand repeated use when used for a medical reason.” Theoretically, this equipment should/could be used for at least 3 years. Mobility DMEs include manual and power wheelchairs, orthoses, canes, walkers, crutches, commode chairs and hospital beds.
Mobility Aide Mission Statement
We want to connect with all relevant hospital and rehabilitation systems in Shanghai (2022 goal) and other parts of China (2023 goal) to associate those who are in the most immediate need of mobility DMEs, and establish a legal system and process to get that equipment to them as soon as possible. Currently, in parts of China, patients cannot receive these DMEs in situations where they need to be trained to use them (in less than one year following injury). Mobility Aide fills that need by using healthcare professionals to make specific DMEs recommendations for the patient, help to confirm with government entities that the patient cannot individually afford the DME, provide the DME, then train the patient in using the DME.
